Florida Pro Rodeos

Florida Pro Rodeos are a great statewide tradition, and top rodeo riders from all over the country frequently compete here in PRCA, PCA, or WPRA sanctioned rodeos. Florida rodeos feature bull riding, barrel riding, team horse roping, bronco riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, plus many other events. Check with each rodeo to determine the events being held during their rodeo.

Florida is one of the largest cattle raising states and has many working cowboys who also participate in local rodeos.

Florida Barrel Racing

Florida barrel racing is a typical event included in Florida rodeos and involves speed, horse and rider team work, and a great deal of fun. Barrel racing involves exacting fast turns around a series of three barrels in a set pattern. It is a favorite event for women riders who have mastered the nuances of barrel racing. In addition to barrel racing as a rodeo event, there are numerous barrel racing contests held weekly in Florida. Since these races involve cash prizes, the riders participate all out.

Professional Rodeo Associations

Most rodeo events are sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA,) The National Cowboy Pro Rodeo Association (NCPRA,) the Professional Cowboy Association (PCA,) or the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA.) These organizations set performance and safety standards in the interest of rodeo riders and rodeo animals.

The PRCA headquarters, established in 1979 in Colorado Springs, also houses the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy.

The Professional Cowboy Association is a non-profit association (501c3) established to promote the sport of rodeo and as the Southeastern leader in professional rodeo. The Professional Cowboy Association sanctions more than 100 rodeos in their 10-month season.

The Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) is one of the largest rodeo sanctioning bodies in the world and is open exclusively to women eighteen years of age and older.

The Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo is the Championship for 96 Professional Cowboys and Cowgirls from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The Southeastern Circuit is one of the top Circuits in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association throughout the United States. Cowboys and Cowgirls compete at the Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo vying for over $250,000 in Prize Money, along with Championship Belt Buckles and Championship Saddles. Westgate River Ranch Rodeo Every Saturday from 7.30 pm -10.30 pm

The Westgate River Ranch Resort Rodeo is considered one of the best in Florida and is conducted weekly all year around. This real-life rodeo features trick riding, bull riding, calf roping, barrel racing, and rodeo clown antics. A patriotic, flag-waving tribute to our armed forces includes classic country songs like Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.” Towards the end of the rodeo, your kids will get the opportunity to participate in a real “calf scramble.”

The Westgate River Ranch and Rodeo is located east of Lake Wales and south of Kissimmee. It’s about an hour and forty minutes away from Orlando. The Westgate River Ranch offers accommodations in the form of conventional rooms, deluxe teepees, and glamping tents.
